On Holiday | words from Kate

I ran into a friend the other day and she asked if I had a good holiday. I thought she meant Thanksgiving and said “Yes! We were in Pennsylvania with family. It was great.” She looked at me quizzically and said, “I thought you went to Mexico on holiday?” Then the light bulb went on in my head. When she said holiday she meant vacation. It got me thinking about vacations called holidays and our current time of year which we call "The Holidays." This time of year can often feel like the opposite of a vacation. There is so much to do and so little time to do it. Many of us feel pressure to get “it right” whether it be buying presents or deciding what to have for Christmas dinner. This year I have decided to explore what would it be like if I moved through the rest of The Holidays as though I was on holiday. After all, this is the time of year where, with the days at the shortest, it makes sense to rest, enjoy, relax and reset for the new year. My question to each of you is what part of The Holidays fills you up? What part of The Holidays wears you down? Can you make decisions now to downshift, modify or let go of that part that brings us stress?

I'd love to hear your ideas as we all move through the celebrations of this time of year!

In-joy,

Kate
